The PACE Participation Fee

There is no charge to apply for PACE, and you may cancel your PACE Plan Agreement at any time before applying the first payment.  Your first payment must include the installment of one-third of your PACE Plan amount, plus the applicable participation fee.  Once paid, the participation fee is non-refundable, even if your registration is later withdrawn, cancelled, or disqualified.

The monthly installments are based upon the amount of registration fees after subtracting any available waiver credits (such as veteran's or health insurance waivers) and applicable financial aid or graduate support (any aid that is eligible to pay fees and available at the time of activation).  The remainder, known as the PACE Plan amount,  is divided into three installments, with a participation fee added to the first installment.

The participation fee is set on a sliding scale based upon the PACE Plan amount, as shown in the following table: 

***Since financial aid and graduate support awards may fluctuate depending on changes in student eligibility, 
PACE installment and participation fee amounts may also change until the point of PACE Plan activation.***

Why does PACE charge a fee?

When you pay your registration fees in full, the University deposits your payment and earns interest on the money throughout the quarter. When you use PACE to pay your registration fees, you put less money up front at the registration fee payment deadline so less interest can be gained over the quarter. PACE compensates for lost interest by collecting the additional participation fee in the first installment payment.  Larger fee amounts translate to greater interest losses when paying through PACE.  Naturally, students with higher registration fee amounts must pay larger participation fees for every quarter that they use the plan.
