Getting Your Diploma

Important Notice:

Costs to mail a diploma increased as of July 1, 2003. Updated prices are shown in red in the text below. After September 1, 2003, requests received with insufficient, obsolete payment amounts may be returned unprocessed. For more information, contact the Registrar's Office.

Graduating? You did it! Congratulations! Now be sure to read the Registrar's Graduation, Degree and Diploma Information so that you can get your hard-earned diploma.

Expect to wait three or four months after your graduating quarter for your diploma to become available. Maintain a current address on file with the Registrar, because a postcard will be mailed to notify you that your diploma is ready. In the meantime, it's important to keep your student accounts clear of any outstanding bills or financial holds that may delay the release of your diploma.

When your post card arrives, examine it for any indication that you have a hold on your diploma. If you are a recent graduate, you may use Quick Search and ZOTAccount Online to check your student accounts. Any outstanding debts or holds must be cleared before your diploma will be released; that is why we recommend that you settle all financial obligations to the University before leaving UCI. If you have any questions about the amount you should pay to clear your accounts, do not hesitate to contact Campus Billing Services (949) 824-2455.

When all is in order, both academically and financially, you may obtain your diploma by the method of your choice:

In person. Visit the Registrar's Office with identification during regular business hours to pick your diploma up for free, OR
By mail. Send a check or money order payable to UC Regents with your postcard to the Central Cashier. Please do not mail cash. If you would like your diploma to be mailed to an address within the United States, the cost is $7.00. If you would like your diploma to be mailed to an address in another country, the cost is $16.00.

Replacing Your Diploma

If you need a replacement (duplicate) diploma, first contact the Registrar's Office at (949) 824-6124 for instructions. A written statement with your signature is required to affirm that your original diploma was lost or destroyed. Any outstanding debts or holds must be cleared before a replacement (duplicate) diploma will be released. Contact Campus Billing Services at (949) 824-2455 to inquire about a hold on your diploma.

When all is in order, both academically and financially, you may obtain your diploma by the method of your choice:

In person. Visit the Central Cashier to remit the duplicate diploma fee of $22.00 ($75.00 for the College of Medicine). Request your replacement (duplicate) diploma by showing proof of purchase and identification at the Registrar's Office during regular business hours, OR
By mail. Send a check or money order payable to UC Regents for the duplicate diploma fee of $22.00 ($75.00 for the College of Medicine), plus the appropriate mailing cost, to the Central Cashier. If you would like your diploma to be mailed to an address within the United States, add $7.00 to the duplicate diploma fee. If you would like your diploma to be mailed to an address in another country, add $16.00 to the duplicate diploma fee. Please do not send cash through the mail.
