At some universities, cashiers work behind the scenes and report to a Bursar, who by definition is the "keeper of the purse or treasury." At UCI, the staff of the Central Cashier assists the campus community by processing payments and deposits, and answering questions at our service windows. As members of a Financial Services work-group, we work closely with Campus Billing Services and Loan Services.
Like most cashiers, it's our job to work with money, and we do our best to make it as painless as possible for you to give up your hard-earned dollars. We are the employees who process your payments for registration and other charges, such as add/drops, readmission applications, and transcript and diploma requests. We also receive payments for bills like Student Health invoices, returned checks, and library fines. If your check is returned (bounced) due to insufficient funds, stopped payment, or a closed account, we will issue an invoice to you.
In addition to applying payments to students' AR/C and ZOTAccounts, we respond to thousands of registration and payment inquiries from students, parents, and other departments; see our FAQ page for some of the common questions. Meanwhile, we process deposits of revenue for more than a hundred campus departments, making sure that income goes to the bank in a timely and accurate manner. Other services for departments include cashing petty cash checks and fulfilling change orders by arrangement.
There are several other cashiers on campus who take payments for the goods and services their departments provide. Housing and Parking are two examples of student services offices that have cashiers for your convenience. It's always a good idea to note which cashier is expecting your payment; sending a check to the wrong location will only delay processing. If payments are due to two different cashiers, please pay them separately, not on the same check.

If you find we are closed, you may submit your payment at a drop box, including the one near the main entrance to Aldrich Hall. Please allow time for delivery; payments deposited after the posted drop box pick-up times will arrive at the Central Cashier on the following business day.
We encourage you to pay online, whenever possible -- particularly during peak periods, such as registration. UCI's secure, web-based Net.Pay service credits your student accounts within moments, even though our cashier windows may be closed. Note that online payments completed after 5:00 PM PST are recorded as paid on the following day. Your online payment must have an Effective Payment Date on or before the payment deadline to be considered on-time.
