CALPIRG Contributions

What is a CALPIRG Contribution?

Beginning with the Spring 99 quarter, your ZOTBill will carry an additional line item if you agreed to make a $5.00 contribution to the California Public Interest Research Group (CALPIRG) during a recent pledge campaign at UCI.

CALPIRG won the right to levy the voluntary campus-based fee by obtaining the approval of the undergraduate student body in last spring's student elections.  This was followed by their pledge drive which attracted 22% of UCI's undergraduate population to pledge the voluntary contribution.

How does the Contribution Work?

The CALPIRG fee is earmarked to support environmental issues, and is restricted to undergraduate students only.  You must pledge in writing before the contribution is added to your ZOTBill, and rescind the pledge in the same manner to remove this voluntary fee from current and future ZOTBills.  Forms to make or cancel a pledge are available at the Office of the Registrar, 215 Administration.

Students with full financial aid who use TELE to pay registration fees electronically should mail their CALPIRG pledges to the UCI Central Cashier's Office, Irvine, CA 92697-1975, or pay in person at Room 228 Administration, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.  Others may include the pledge amount in their ZOTBill registration fee payment.
