Amateur Athlete at Chula Vista Olympic Training Center Nonresident Tuition Registrar Amateur athlete training at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center is entitled to resident classification for tuition purposes until s/he has resided in the state the minimum time necessary to become a resident.
BIA School Graduate, Exemption Nonresident Tuition Registrar Native American graduate of a California school operated by the Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs.
California High School Graduate Exemption Nonresident Tuition Registrar Nonresident student who attended for at least 3 years and graduated from a California high school.
California Resident's Dependent Child Exemption Nonresident Tuition Registrar Student who has not been an adult resident for more than one year and is the natural or adopted, dependent child of a California resident who has been a resident for more than one year immediately prior to the residence determination date may be entitled to resident classification until the student has resided in California for the minimum time necessary to be come a resident.
Credentialed California public school teacher Nonresident Tuition Registrar Employee of a California public school district holding a valid education credential.
Education Abroad Program Waiver All Fees Education Abroad Students participating in the Education Abroad Program pay their registration fees to the Universitywide Office of EAP at UC Santa Barbara for the quarters in which they are studying abroad. Fees are waived at the home campus (UCI).
In Absentia Waiver 1/2 Registration Fee Graduate Studies Students registered at UCI but studying at another campus.
Insurance, Graduate Student Health Waiver GSHIP Graduate Studies Graduate registration fees include a quarterly fee for a University health insurance policy, known as GSHIP. The insurance is mandatory unless the student is covered by insurance equal to the University's and is granted a waiver. Information about GSHIP and the GSHIP waiver application is available from the Office of Graduate Studies.

The insurance is mandatory unless the student is covered by insurance equal to the University's and is granted a waiver. Law Enforcement Officer or Fire Fighter Waiver Registration Fee

Registrar Child* or spouse or registered domestic partner of a resident law enforcement officer or fire fighter killed on active duty.
Military Dependent Exemption Nonresident Tuition Registrar Dependent natural or adopted child*, stepchild, or spouse or registered domestic partner of an active duty member of the U.S. military stationed in California for non-educational purposes, shall be entitled to an exemption from non-resident tuition until s/he has resided in the state the minimum time necessary to become a resident. Should the member of the armed forces (1) be transferred outside California where s/he continues to serve on active duty or (2) be retired from active duty, the student shall not lose his/her exemption until s/he has resided in the state the minimum time necessary to become a resident.
The spouse and adult children of a military person may receive no more than one year of exemption from non resident fees. A minor child may receive exemptions until his/her 19th birthday.

Medal of Honor Exemption Nonresident Tuition
 
Financial Aid Undergraduate student who is a recipient of a Medal of Honor or who is the child* of such recipient.

UC Employee, out-of-state, Dependent, Exemption Nonresident Tuition Registrar Child (under the age of 21)* or spouse or registered domestic partner of a UC employee who is permanently assigned to work outside the state of California (i.e., Los Alamos National Laboratory or University of California Washington, DC Center) may be entitled to resident classification].
Visitor/Other Campus Waiver All Fees Graduate Studies Student from another UC campus who is studying at UCI.

* Consistent with provisions of the Education Code, exemptions are available to natural or adopted children only; stepchildren may be eligible for a tuition or fee exemption only if they are specifically identified recipient in the Code.

** Eligibility for waiver or exemption of the Nonresident Tuition Fee is determined by the residence of the decedent. Therefore, the Nonresident Tuition Fee may be waived if the decedent was a resident of California and met the other conditions specified in the Education Code.
